Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as Hospital Porters. This is an entry-level, full-time position offering comprehensive training for candidates with no prior experience. As a Hospital Porter, you will play a crucial role in the smooth operation of our healthcare facility, ensuring patients, equipment, and vital supplies are moved safely and efficiently throughout the hospital. Key Responsibilities
- Transporting patients via wheelchairs, beds, or stretchers to various departments for appointments, procedures, or admissions/discharges.
- Moving medical equipment, specimens, and supplies between hospital areas as needed.
- Assisting with the safe transfer of patients to and from beds, trolleys, and examination tables.
- Responding promptly to calls for portering services from different hospital units.
- Ensuring the cleanliness and proper storage of transport equipment.
- Adhering to all hospital policies, safety regulations, and infection control procedures.
- Providing compassionate and respectful interaction with patients and their families.
- Reporting any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the appropriate staff.
Required Skills
- No prior experience required – full training will be provided.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in French (essential for patient safety and communication in Quebec).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work independently or as part of a team.
- Good physical stamina and the ability to push, pull, lift, and stand for extended periods.
- A compassionate and patient-focused approach.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to work various shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of English is an asset.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (training can be provided if not held).
