Job Description
Join Turner Construction Company, a leading name in the construction industry, as a Drywall / Plasterer’s Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to learn and grow within the skilled trades. We are seeking a dedicated and reliable assistant to support our experienced drywall hangers and plasterers on various indoor projects across the San Diego metropolitan area. As an assistant, you will be crucial to project efficiency and safety. We value hard work, a positive attitude, and a commitment to quality. While prior experience in drywall or plastering is a plus, it is not required for this role. We are prepared to provide comprehensive on-the-job training to the right candidate who demonstrates a strong work ethic and a desire to develop new skills. This is a full-time, on-site position with guaranteed weekly pay. You will be working indoors, primarily assisting with interior finishing tasks. Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled drywall hangers and plasterers with various tasks.
- Prepare work areas, including setting up scaffolding and drop cloths.
- Handle and transport materials such as drywall sheets, plaster, and tools to and from work sites.
- Measure, cut, and fit drywall panels as directed.
- Mix plaster and other compounds according to specifications.
- Clean and maintain tools and equipment.
- Perform general site cleanup and debris removal.
- Follow all company safety protocols and procedures rigorously.
- Learn and apply new techniques and skills related to drywall and plaster finishing.
Required Skills
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and carrying heavy materials (up to 50 lbs).
- Comfortable working at heights on ladders or scaffolding (with proper safety training).
- Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced tradespeople.
- Basic understanding of construction site safety or willingness to complete safety training immediately.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a construction or manual labor role is a plus, but not required.
- Basic familiarity with hand tools and power tools relevant to drywall/plastering.
- Valid California Driver's License and reliable transportation to job sites.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification (can be provided upon hire).
