Job Description
Join GFL Environmental as an E-Waste Dismantler / Recycler in our Aurora facility. This hands-on role involves the safe and efficient dismantling, sorting, and processing of electronic waste for recycling. You will contribute directly to environmental sustainability by ensuring valuable materials are recovered and hazardous components are handled responsibly. We are looking for dedicated individuals eager to learn and make an impact, offering comprehensive training for those new to the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Manually dismantle various types of electronic waste (e.g., computers, monitors, small appliances) using hand tools and power tools.
- Sort and categorize dismantled components (e.g., plastics, metals, circuit boards) into designated containers for further processing.
- Operate basic material handling equipment, such as pallet jacks, to move e-waste and sorted materials.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and environmental regulations, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Identify and report any damaged equipment, safety hazards, or non-conforming materials.
- Assist with inventory management and loading/unloading of materials as required.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks and physical work, including standing, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and reaching.
- Comfortable working in an indoor industrial environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures or willingness to learn.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or recycling environment is an asset.
- Familiarity with various hand and power tools.
- Mechanical aptitude or experience with electronics.
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain (company-provided training available).
