Job Description

Are you passionate about the outdoors and eager to learn a skilled trade that contributes to the environmental well-being of St. Thomas? Island Green Solutions is seeking motivated individuals for an immediate start as a City Arborist Assistant / Tree Surgeon Trainee. This is an entry-level position designed for individuals with no prior experience in arboriculture. We provide extensive on-the-job training, mentorship, and support to help you develop into a skilled tree care professional. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist certified arborists and tree surgeons with various tree care operations, including pruning, removal, and planting.
  • Learn and practice safe equipment operation, including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lift devices under direct supervision.
  • Support ground operations, including brush hauling, site clean-up, and debris removal.
  • Participate in safety briefings and adhere strictly to all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
  • Learn to identify common tree species, diseases, and hazards.
  • Contribute positively to a safe and productive team environment.

Required Skills

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Valid U.S. Virgin Islands driver's license (or ability to obtain one).
