Job Description
Purolator Inc. is seeking a diligent and reliable Logistics Yard Gate Opener to join our team in Nanaimo, BC. This entry-level position is crucial for maintaining the smooth and secure flow of traffic within our logistics yard. The successful candidate will be responsible for manually operating yard gates, verifying incoming and outgoing vehicles, and ensuring yard safety protocols are followed. Key Responsibilities
- Manually open and close yard gates for incoming and outgoing trucks and vehicles.
- Verify driver credentials and match vehicle information against dispatch schedules or manifests.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, yard staff, and dispatch regarding vehicle movements.
- Maintain a clear and organized gate area, ensuring unobstructed access.
- Monitor yard activity and report any suspicious or unusual occurrences to supervision.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies at all times.
- Perform basic administrative tasks related to gate logs and vehicle entry/exit records.
- Assist with general yard upkeep as needed, ensuring a tidy and safe environment.
