Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dynamic Positioning (DP) Operator to join our offshore team based out of Glasgow, Scotland. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on cutting-edge subsea projects globally. We are offering Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) for eligible international candidates who possess the required experience and qualifications. As a DP Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and precise operation of our vessel’s DP system, ensuring accurate station-keeping during complex subsea construction, installation, and intervention operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor Dynamic Positioning (DP) systems to maintain vessel position and heading during offshore operations.
- Execute complex maneuvers and station-keeping operations in accordance with operational procedures and project requirements.
- Monitor all vessel systems critical to DP operations, including power generation, propulsion, thrusters, and navigation sensors.
- Respond effectively and promptly to alarms, system failures, and adverse weather conditions, implementing contingency plans as necessary.
- Conduct pre-operation checks, system calibrations, and routine maintenance tasks for DP equipment.
- Collaborate closely with the Bridge Team, offshore management, and project personnel to ensure seamless operations.
- Maintain accurate logs and records of DP operations, incidents, and equipment status.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and international maritime conventions.
- Participate actively in emergency drills and maintain a high level of preparedness.
Required Skills
- Valid DP Operator Certificate (Unlimited preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a DP Operator on offshore vessels (e.g., construction vessels, drillships, FPSOs).
- Relevant STCW certifications appropriate for offshore vessel operations.
- Sound theoretical and practical understanding of DP principles, sensors, thrusters, and control systems.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, sufficient for maritime communications.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills under pressure.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work extended periods offshore in challenging environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Higher National Diploma or Degree in Maritime Studies, Nautical Science, or a related field.
- Experience with specific DP control systems (e.g., Kongsberg, GE, L-3, Converteam).
- Additional maritime qualifications or certifications (e.g., OOW, Master Mariner).
- Experience on specialized subsea construction or heavy lift vessels.
