Job Description
Skanska USA is looking for enthusiastic and hardworking individuals to join our team as Construction Labourers. This is an incredible opportunity for anyone looking to start a career in the construction industry, regardless of prior experience. We understand that getting started can be tough, which is why we’re offering full training and will cover the cost of your CSCS Card. If you’re physically fit, eager to learn, and ready to contribute to significant projects across Newark, we want to hear from you. You will work alongside experienced professionals, learn valuable skills, and be an essential part of our construction sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled tradespersons (e.g., carpenters, masons, electricians) with various tasks.
- Perform site clean-up, including debris removal, sweeping, and organizing materials.
- Load and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment manually or with assistance.
- Prepare construction sites by digging trenches, erecting scaffolding, and setting up barriers.
- Operate basic hand and power tools safely under supervision.
- Follow all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Support general construction activities as directed by site management.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Willingness to learn and take direction.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of safety principles (training provided).
- Excellent attendance and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in any manual labor role (not necessarily construction).
