Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Endoscopy Nurse to join our dynamic team at Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services in Corner Brook. This is an exciting opportunity for both domestic and international candidates looking to advance their nursing career in a supportive and state-of-the-art facility. As an Endoscopy Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive care to patients undergoing various endoscopic procedures. You will be responsible for patient assessment, procedure preparation, intra-procedure monitoring, and post-procedure recovery, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout their journey. Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care before, during, and after endoscopic procedures.
- Assist physicians during procedures, including colonoscopies, gastroscopies, and bronchoscopies.
- Monitor vital signs, administer medications, and ensure patient comfort and safety.
- Prepare and maintain endoscopy equipment, ensuring proper sterilization and functionality.
- Educate patients and their families about procedures, potential risks, and post-procedure care.
- Document all aspects of patient care accurately and comprehensively.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain professional competency.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and relevant regulatory standards.
Required Skills
- Current Registration or Eligibility for Registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL).
- Minimum of 2 years of recent clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Demonstrated experience in endoscopy or a critical care setting.
- Strong knowledge of endoscopic procedures, equipment, and patient care.
- Excellent assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Certification in Gastroenterology Nursing (CGN).
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Demonstrated cultural competence and experience working with diverse patient populations.
