Job Description
Join our team as a Warehouse Janitorial Staff member and play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our busy distribution center in Sydney, Nova Scotia. This position involves independent work, ensuring all designated areas are kept tidy, sanitary, and free of hazards. You will be responsible for a variety of cleaning tasks, contributing directly to a productive and safe working environment for all employees. We are looking for a reliable individual who takes pride in their work and can efficiently manage their tasks with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and trash removal in assigned warehouse areas.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, breakrooms, offices, and common areas.
- Empty and clean waste receptacles and dispose of trash in designated areas.
- Dust and wipe down surfaces, shelving, and equipment as needed.
- Monitor and replenish supplies in restrooms and cleaning closets.
- Operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers and buffing machines (training provided if necessary).
- Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or needed repairs to management promptly.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies regarding cleaning agents and equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized janitorial supply closet.
Required Skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high cleanliness standards.
- Physical stamina to perform manual tasks, including standing, bending, lifting (up to 25 lbs), and walking for extended periods.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures related to cleaning.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a janitorial or cleaning role, especially in a warehouse or industrial setting.
- Familiarity with operating industrial cleaning equipment.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and their safe use.
