Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join our dynamic mental health services team in Plymouth. As an RMN with Livewell Southwest, you will play a crucial role in providing holistic care, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health challenges. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team, dedicated to person-centred care and continuous professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, risk assessments, and develop personalised care plans.
- Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions and manage patient caseloads effectively.
- Administer medication in accordance with Livewell Southwest policies and NMC guidelines.
- Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adapting care plans as necessary.
- Provide crisis intervention and support to individuals and their families.
- Liaise effectively with a multidisciplinary team, external agencies, and carers.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Act as a patient advocate, ensuring their rights and dignity are maintained.
- Participate in clinical supervision, team meetings, and continuous professional development activities.
Required Skills
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-working skills.
- Proven ability to conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and formulate care plans.
- Strong understanding of mental health legislation, policies, and best practice guidelines.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to person-centred care and recovery-focused practice.
- Proficiency in record-keeping and IT systems relevant to healthcare.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-registration experience in an acute mental health setting or community mental health team.
- Additional training or qualifications in specific therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT).
- Experience in supervising junior staff or students.
- Knowledge of local mental health services and pathways in Plymouth.
