Job Description
Join TransPerfect as a Work From Home Telephonic Interpreter and play a crucial role in facilitating clear and accurate communication across various industries. This is a 100% remote position, allowing you to work from the comfort of your home in Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec. We are seeking highly proficient bilingual individuals with exceptional listening and communication skills to interpret conversations over the phone, ensuring that all parties understand each other perfectly. You will handle a diverse range of topics, requiring cultural sensitivity and a commitment to accuracy and impartiality. Full training will be provided to ensure your success in this dynamic role.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide accurate, clear, and impartial interpretation between two or more parties over the telephone.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines and professional standards.
- Handle a variety of call types, including medical, legal, technical, and general business conversations.
- Manage call flow and ensure effective communication between all participants.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures regarding call handling and data security.
- Continuously improve language proficiency and interpreting skills.
Required Skills
- Fluency in English and at least one other target language (oral and written proficiency essential).
- Excellent listening comprehension and verbal communication skills.
- Strong ability to maintain neutrality and cultural sensitivity.
- Proficiency in active listening and memory retention.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a quiet home office setup.
- Basic computer literacy and comfort with telecommunication tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in telephonic interpreting or a related language services role.
- Certification in interpreting (e.g., CMI, CCHI) is a plus.
- Post-secondary education in linguistics, translation, or a related field.
- Experience in customer service or a client-facing role.
