Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Full-Time Spanish Teacher to join our vibrant Modern Foreign Languages department in York. The successful candidate will be passionate about teaching Spanish, dedicated to student success, and eager to contribute to a collaborative school community. This role involves delivering engaging Spanish lessons to students across various key stages, fostering a love for language learning, and developing cultural understanding. You will be responsible for creating a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive and achieve their full potential in Spanish language acquisition.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and effective Spanish lessons to students across Key Stage 3 and 4 (and potentially Key Stage 5), ensuring curriculum objectives are met.
- Develop and implement creative lesson plans and resources that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, promoting active participation.
- Assess student progress regularly, provide timely and constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records of achievement.
- Contribute to the continuous development of the Spanish curriculum and departmental resources, staying abreast of best practices.
- Participate actively in extracurricular activities, language clubs, and school events to enrich the student experience.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with parents/guardians regarding student performance, progress, and well-being.
- Undertake pastoral duties as required, supporting student welfare and upholding the school's values and policies.
- Engage in continuous professional development and training opportunities to enhance teaching skills and subject knowledge.
Required Skills
- Fluent in Spanish (native or near-native proficiency).
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognized teaching qualification.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively teach Spanish to secondary school students at various levels.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong classroom management abilities, fostering a positive and disciplined learning environment.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and digital resources to enhance language learning.
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching Spanish at A-Level (Key Stage 5).
- A Master's degree in a relevant field such as Modern Languages or Education.
- Proven experience in developing innovative and engaging language learning resources.
- Ability to teach another modern foreign language in addition to Spanish.
