Job Description
We are actively seeking a dedicated and reliable Public Healthcare Laundry & Sterilization Aide to join our essential team at Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital. This immediate hire position is vital to maintaining a safe, clean, and sterile environment for our patients and staff. As an aide, you will be responsible for the efficient processing of linens and the sterilization of medical instruments and supplies, ensuring all departmental and regulatory standards are met. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong work ethic to contribute to a critical healthcare function. Full training will be provided for candidates who demonstrate commitment and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, sort, wash, dry, fold, and distribute hospital linens, garments, and other textile items.
- Operate and maintain laundry equipment, ensuring proper functionality and cleanliness.
- Clean, sterilize, and package medical instruments, equipment, and supplies according to established protocols.
- Monitor and record sterilization cycles and related documentation.
- Maintain inventory of clean linens and sterile supplies, replenishing as needed.
- Adhere strictly to infection control, safety, and quality assurance policies and procedures.
- Transport sterile and non-sterile items between departments as required.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or supply shortages to supervisors promptly.
Required Skills
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, lift, and push laundry carts throughout the shift.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Basic understanding of hygiene and cleanliness principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous experience in a healthcare, laundry, or sterilization setting is a plus, but not required.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and sterile processing techniques.
