Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Demography & Population Studies Intern to join our Consulting team in Mississauga. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in applying demographic principles and analytical techniques to real-world business and social challenges. The successful candidate will support various projects focused on population trends, migration patterns, age demographics, and their implications for clients in diverse sectors. You will work alongside experienced consultants, contributing to research, data analysis, and report generation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the collection, cleaning, and organization of demographic data from various sources.
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of population trends, utilizing statistical software and tools.
  • Contribute to the development of research reports, presentations, and client deliverables.
  • Conduct literature reviews on key demographic topics and methodologies.
  • Support the team in preparing for client meetings and workshops.
  • Learn and apply data visualization techniques to present complex demographic information clearly.
  • Collaborate with team members on ad-hoc research tasks and special projects.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Demography, Sociology, Geography, Economics, Statistics, Public Policy, or a related field.
  • Foundational understanding of demographic concepts and population analysis methods.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated interest in population dynamics and their societal impact.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with statistical software packages (e.g., R, Python, SAS, SPSS).
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software.
  • Previous experience with research projects or academic papers related to demography.
