Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Public Revenue Collection Agent to join our team in Jersey City, NJ. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing and resolving outstanding public revenue accounts in a respectful and efficient manner. This position involves direct interaction with individuals and organizations to ensure timely and accurate collection, while strictly adhering to all legal and ethical guidelines. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting public services through effective revenue management, benefiting from competitive base pay and an excellent pension plan.
Key Responsibilities
- Contact individuals and entities regarding outstanding public revenue accounts via phone, mail, and email.
- Negotiate payment plans and settlements in accordance with established policies and regulations.
- Provide clear and concise information to payers regarding their obligations and available payment options.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all communication and payment arrangements.
- Process payments and reconcile accounts, ensuring data integrity.
- Adhere strictly to all federal, state, and local collection laws and company compliance policies.
- Collaborate with internal departments to resolve complex account issues.
- Identify and report potential issues or trends in revenue collection to management.
- Deliver exceptional customer service, maintaining a professional and empathetic demeanor.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in collections, customer service, or a related financial role.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent negotiation and persuasion abilities.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
