Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Civil Engineering Intern to join our dynamic team in Airdrie. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of civil engineering, with a particular focus on site visits and project management support. You will work alongside experienced engineers, contributing to real-world projects and developing essential skills for your future career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist project engineers with planning, design, and analysis tasks for civil infrastructure projects.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, collect data, and observe construction activities, ensuring compliance with specifications.
  • Support project managers in preparing project documentation, reports, and presentations.
  • Perform calculations and technical analyses under supervision.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to problem-solving discussions.
  • Aid in the preparation of drawings and specifications using engineering software.
  • Research and apply relevant engineering standards, codes, and regulations.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of civil engineering principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation for site visits.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous co-op or internship experience in an engineering environment is a plus.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) is an asset.
  • Demonstrated strong academic performance.
  • Familiarity with local Alberta building codes and regulations.
