Job Description
We are seeking a friendly and enthusiastic Full-Time Cashier to join the team at Island Comics & Hobbies. This role is perfect for someone who loves pop culture, enjoys interacting with people, and thrives in a relaxed, community-focused retail environment. As a Cashier, you will be the face of our store, ensuring a smooth and pleasant shopping experience for all our customers. Key Responsibilities
- Process customer purchases accurately and efficiently using our POS system
- Handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions
- Provide friendly and helpful customer service, answering questions about products and store events
- Assist customers in locating specific items or suggesting new releases
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area and sales floor
- Restock shelves and display merchandise as needed
- Assist with inventory counts and receiving new shipments
- Support store events and promotions as required
- Ensure all security procedures are followed to prevent loss
Required Skills
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Basic mathematical abilities for handling transactions
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Punctuality and reliability
- Enthusiasm for comic books, games, or hobbies is a significant plus
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a retail or customer-facing role (e.g., cashier, sales associate)
- Familiarity with various comic book genres, gaming systems, or hobby trends
- Experience using a point-of-sale (POS) system
- High school diploma or equivalent
