Job Description

Bayshore Home Health is seeking compassionate and reliable individuals to join our team as Domiciliary Care Workers in Sydney, Nova Scotia. No prior experience is required, as we provide comprehensive paid training to ensure you have all the skills and confidence needed to succeed. This role involves providing essential personal and practical care to clients in their homes, helping them maintain independence and comfort. We recognize and value your time, offering paid travel time between client visits.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Help with mobility, transfers, and positioning as needed.
- Prepare and serve meals, ensuring dietary requirements are met.
- Perform light household duties such as tidying and laundry.
- Provide companionship and engage clients in stimulating activities.
- Administer medication prompts and ensure adherence to care plans.
- Observe and report any changes in client condition to the care coordinator.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for clients.
Required Skills
- A genuine desire to help and care for others.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions and care plans diligently.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to a reliable vehicle (for travel between client homes).
- Successful completion of a criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- First Aid and CPR certification (training can be provided).
- Previous experience in a customer service role.
- Ability to adapt to various home environments and client needs.
