Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Wolverhampton. This role involves contributing to a diverse portfolio of projects ranging from major infrastructure schemes to commercial and residential developments. You will be responsible for conducting geotechnical investigations, analysis, design, and reporting, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage geotechnical site investigations, including planning, supervision, and interpretation of ground investigation data.
  • Perform geotechnical analysis and design for foundations, retaining structures, slopes, and ground improvements.
  • Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, specifications, and other technical documents.
  • Provide expert geotechnical advice and support to internal project teams and external clients.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant British Standards, Eurocodes, and industry best practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to their professional development.
  • Participate in client meetings and project coordination.
  • Contribute to tender proposals and business development activities.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in geotechnical engineering consultancy.
  • Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical design software (e.g., PLAXIS, Oasys, Wallap).
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to site locations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or actively working towards it.
  • Experience with BIM and digital engineering tools.
  • Familiarity with environmental geotechnics or ground contamination assessment.
