Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Solar Installation Supervisor to lead our installation teams in Victoria, BC. The successful candidate will oversee the safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of solar PV projects, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and SkyFire Energy’s stringent quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in solar installations, and a commitment to safety. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of solar installation crews on residential and commercial projects.
- Ensure all installations are completed to the highest quality standards, local electrical codes, and manufacturer specifications.
- Conduct site visits, pre-installation checks, and post-installation inspections.
- Manage project timelines, materials, and equipment effectively to meet deadlines and budget requirements.
- Implement and enforce strict safety protocols and procedures, conducting regular safety briefings and hazard assessments.
- Provide hands-on training and mentorship to junior installers and apprentices.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and internal stakeholders regarding project status and any issues.
- Troubleshoot technical issues that arise during installation and provide effective solutions.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily logs, progress reports, and incident reports.
- Ensure all necessary permits and inspections are in place and successfully completed.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in solar PV system installation, including supervisory experience.
- In-depth knowledge of solar PV components, electrical wiring, and racking systems.
- Strong understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and local building codes.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work at heights and lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- OSHA 10 or equivalent safety certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Journeyman Electrician certification (Red Seal preferred).
- NABCEP PV Installation Professional certification.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Experience with various types of solar monitoring and battery storage systems.
- Post-secondary education in a related technical field.
