Job Description

Wichita Falls Transit Services is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Transit Operators / Bus Drivers in Training. This is an incredible opportunity for individuals with no prior experience in transit, as we provide fully paid, comprehensive training to help you obtain your Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and become a skilled professional bus operator. Key Responsibilities
- Successfully complete all phases of paid training to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsements.
- Operate transit buses safely and efficiently over designated routes according to schedule.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service, including assisting passengers with special needs and answering inquiries.
- Collect fares, issue transfers, and maintain accurate passenger counts.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure safe operating conditions.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch regarding route changes, delays, or mechanical issues.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor at all times.
Required Skills
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Possess a valid Texas Driver's License with a clean driving record for the past 3 years.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical, drug screen, and background check.
- Strong commitment to safety and customer service.
- Ability to learn and adhere to federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
- Reliable and punctual attendance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role (not required, but a plus).
