Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Legislative Aide Intern to join our team in Wimbledon. This is a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about public service and the legislative process to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic parliamentary office. You will support the team in various capacities, learning about constituency work, policy research, and communication. Full training will be provided, making this an ideal role for those with no prior experience in a legislative setting but a strong desire to learn and contribute.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with constituent casework, including drafting responses and liaising with government departments and local authorities.
- Conduct research on policy issues relevant to the constituency and national legislation.
- Support the preparation of briefs, reports, and presentations for the Member of Parliament.
- Help manage incoming communications, including emails, letters, and phone calls.
- Assist with event planning and coordination for community outreach initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records and databases related to constituent inquiries and legislative activities.
- Attend meetings and take detailed notes as required.
- Perform general administrative duties to ensure the smooth operation of the office.
Required Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Demonstrated interest in politics, public policy, or community service.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Political Science, Public Administration, Law, Communications, or a related field.
- Familiarity with the UK parliamentary system and local government structures.
- Experience with database management or CRM systems (though training will be provided).
