Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Agronomist / Crop Scientist to join our growing team in Derby. This critical role involves providing expert advice on crop nutrition, protection, and overall farm management to our diverse client base. You will be instrumental in developing sustainable farming solutions, conducting field trials, and implementing integrated pest management strategies. You will be responsible for building strong relationships with farmers, understanding their unique challenges, and delivering tailored advice that drives efficiency and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert agronomic advice to farmers on crop health, nutrition, pest and disease management, and weed control.
- Conduct regular farm visits to assess crop conditions, identify issues, and recommend appropriate interventions.
- Develop and implement integrated crop management plans tailored to individual farm needs and environmental conditions.
- Stay abreast of the latest agricultural research, technologies, and regulatory changes.
- Participate in field trials and research projects to evaluate new products and techniques.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions, recommendations, and crop performance data.
- Collaborate with sales and technical teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Deliver presentations and training sessions to farmers and internal staff on agronomic best practices.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Plant Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) in agronomy or crop science, preferably with fieldwork.
- Strong understanding of crop physiology, soil science, entomology, and plant pathology.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
- Full UK driving license (or ability to obtain one).
- Eligibility for visa sponsorship (company will support the application process).
Preferred Qualifications
- Basis/FAS (Fertiliser Advisers Certification and Training Scheme) qualification.
- NRoSO (National Register of Sprayer Operators) certification.
- Experience with precision agriculture technologies and data analysis.
- Previous experience working with UK agricultural practices and crop types.
