Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Head Waiter / Captain to lead our front-of-house team. As a Restaurant Team Leader, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of our dining room, delivering impeccable service, and cultivating a positive environment for both guests and staff. Your leadership will directly contribute to our reputation for excellence and guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, train, and supervise a team of waiters and junior staff, ensuring adherence to service standards.
- Oversee the daily operations of the dining area, including table assignments, seating arrangements, and flow management.
- Provide exceptional guest service, handling inquiries, special requests, and resolving any guest concerns promptly and professionally.
- Ensure accurate order taking and timely delivery of food and beverages.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining room and service stations.
- Conduct pre-shift briefings and post-shift debriefings with the service team.
- Assist with inventory management for table linens, cutlery, and other dining essentials.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Uphold all health, safety, and hygiene standards.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Head Waiter, Captain, or similar leadership role in a high-volume restaurant or hotel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Exceptional customer service orientation.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- In-depth knowledge of food and beverage service procedures.
- Proficiency in English (local languages a plus).
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Hospitality Management or a related field.
- Experience with POS systems and inventory management software.
- Knowledge of Nigerian and international cuisine and wine pairings.
- First Aid and basic hygiene certifications.
