Job Description

Are you passionate about mechanics and looking for a hands-on career opportunity with no prior experience required? The City of Nashua Department of Public Works is seeking a motivated and eager individual to join our team as a Trainee Fleet Mechanic through a comprehensive Apprenticeship Program. Key Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in all training sessions and mentorship activities.
  • Assist certified mechanics with routine vehicle inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Learn to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues under supervision.
  • Perform basic tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid checks.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and workplace regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Document work performed and parts used accurately.
  • Demonstrate a strong eagerness to learn and apply new skills.
  • Contribute positively to a team-oriented workshop setting.

Required Skills

  • Basic mechanical aptitude or interest in vehicles.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks requiring lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of hand and power tools (not required, but a plus).
  • Prior experience in an automotive class or hobby mechanics (not required).
