Job Description

As a Workers Compensation Claims Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our claims adjudicators and ensuring the smooth operation of our claims processes. This position involves administrative tasks, data entry, communication with various stakeholders, and maintaining accurate records within a fast-paced public sector environment. You will be an integral part of a team dedicated to providing timely and effective support to workers and employers in British Columbia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to Claims Adjudicators and the claims management team.
  • Manage and organize claim files, ensuring all documentation is accurate, current, and easily accessible.
  • Process and review incoming mail, faxes, and electronic documents, prioritizing urgent items.
  • Accurately enter and update data in the claims management system.
  • Assist with scheduling appointments, meetings, and coordinating various activities.
  • Communicate professionally with workers, employers, medical practitioners, and other external parties, providing general information and directing inquiries as needed.
  • Prepare and format routine correspondence, reports, and other documents.
  • Assist in the preparation of case summaries and other materials for claims review.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all privacy policies and procedures.
  • Perform other clerical duties as required to support claims operations.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 6 months of administrative or office support experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented public sector environment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in office administration or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a claims processing or public sector environment.
  • Familiarity with workers' compensation processes or related legislation.
