Job Description

Are you an ambitious and driven individual looking to kick-start your career in Quantity Surveying with a Tier 1 industry leader? Lendlease is offering an exceptional opportunity for a Cadet Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team in Geelong. This is an entry-level role designed to provide comprehensive training and mentorship, allowing you to develop foundational skills in cost management, commercial acumen, and project financial control on major construction projects. You will work alongside experienced professionals, gaining invaluable hands-on experience and contributing to significant projects from inception to completion. No prior experience in Quantity Surveying is required; we are seeking candidates with a strong desire to learn and grow within the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior Quantity Surveyors with project cost control and financial reporting.
  • Learn to review and understand tender documentation, specifications, and drawings.
  • Participate in site visits to observe project progress and assess variations.
  • Support the preparation of estimates, cost plans, and valuations.
  • Assist with procurement processes, including subcontractor tender analysis and contract administration.
  • Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
  • Develop an understanding of construction contracts and commercial agreements.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree/diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safety and quality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid Australian driver's license.
  • Basic understanding of the construction industry or building processes.
  • Previous casual or part-time work experience (any industry).
  • Strong academic record.
