Job Description

BrightStar Care of Gurnee/Waukegan is seeking dedicated Caregivers and Companions to provide essential non-medical care and support to clients in their homes. This is an incredible opportunity for individuals who are new to caregiving or those with experience, as no prior certification is required to start – we provide all necessary training! Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide light housekeeping tasks, including laundry, tidying common areas, and meal preparation.
- Offer companionship and engage clients in stimulating activities like conversation, reading, or hobbies.
- Accompany clients to appointments, errands, or social outings.
- Assist with medication reminders as directed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment for clients.
- Communicate effectively with clients, their families, and the BrightStar Care team regarding client needs and observations.
- Follow individualized care plans to ensure personalized and effective support.
Required Skills
- Compassionate and empathetic nature
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow instructions and care plans diligently
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (required for client travel)
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a caregiving, personal support, or customer service role (not required, but a plus)
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- First Aid and CPR certification (can be obtained during training)
