Job Description
We are seeking a talented and passionate Textile Designer to join our dynamic team in Geraldton. This role is perfect for an individual with a strong eye for aesthetics, a deep understanding of textile production, and a desire to shape the future of fashion and interior design. You will be responsible for conceptualising, designing, and developing textile patterns and prints for our seasonal collections, working across various product categories from garments to home furnishings. This is an on-site position requiring collaboration with a close-knit design and production team.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and analyse current and future trends in fashion, interior design, and textiles to inform new collection development.
- Develop original textile designs, patterns, and prints using various techniques, including digital (CAD) and hand-drawing.
- Prepare comprehensive technical specifications for textile production, including colourways, repeats, and material suggestions.
- Collaborate closely with product development, merchandising, and production teams to ensure design feasibility and alignment with brand vision.
- Manage design projects from concept through to final production, ensuring deadlines are met and quality standards are maintained.
- Maintain an organised library of designs, samples, and textile swatches.
- Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Stay updated on sustainable textile practices and innovative material technologies.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) for textile design.
- Strong understanding of colour theory, pattern repeats, and print processes.
- Demonstrated ability to develop innovative and commercially viable textile designs.
- Excellent hand-drawing and sketching abilities.
- Knowledge of various textile fibres, weaves, knits, and finishes.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Textile Design, Fashion Design, Fine Arts, or a related field.
- Experience with 3D design software for textile visualisation.
- Knowledge of sustainable textile practices and certifications.
