Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Trainee Environmental Health Officer to join our dynamic public health team. Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in a structured training program designed to develop expertise in environmental health practices.

  • Learn to interpret and apply relevant environmental health legislation, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Support the collection of samples and data for analysis, maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • Engage with community members and businesses to provide advice and educate on best environmental health practices.
  • Prepare and present findings, recommendations, and enforcement actions under supervision.
  • Contribute to public health campaigns and initiatives, fostering a healthier Lexington.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Strong interest in public health, environmental protection, or related fields.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse groups.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new information and procedures.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Valid Kentucky driver's license or ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe.

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a science-related field (e.g., biology, chemistry, public health, environmental science).
