Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Family Law Legal Assistant to join our professional and stable team in Gold Coast. This is a crucial role supporting our Family Law solicitors, ensuring the efficient and compassionate delivery of legal services to our clients. You will be an integral part of a supportive environment, managing administrative tasks, preparing legal documents, and assisting with client communications, contributing to positive outcomes for individuals and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and draft legal documents, correspondence, and court forms related to family law matters (e.g., applications, affidavits, consent orders).
- Manage client files, ensuring accurate and up-to-date documentation and information.
- Liaise directly with clients, barristers, court registries, and other parties via phone and email.
- Maintain diary management, schedule appointments, and coordinate meetings and court dates for solicitors.
- Handle billing, invoicing, and expense tracking for family law cases.
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant case information as directed by solicitors.
- Assist with the preparation for mediations, arbitrations, and court hearings.
- Provide general administrative support to the Family Law team.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Legal Assistant, preferably in Family Law.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive client information.
- Familiarity with legal case management software (e.g., LEAP, Actionstep).
Preferred Qualifications
- A Certificate IV or Diploma in Legal Services.
- Experience with Queensland Family Law procedures and court systems.
- Proven ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- A genuine interest in family law and helping people through difficult periods.
