Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and intellectually curious Venture Capital Deal Flow Intern specializing in Sourcing to join our team. This entry-level internship is perfect for individuals eager to gain hands-on experience in the fast-paced world of venture capital. As a Deal Flow Intern, you will play a crucial role in identifying promising startups and investment opportunities, supporting our investment team in the initial stages of our deal pipeline. Full training will be provided, making this an ideal opportunity for those with little to no prior experience in venture capital but a strong passion for innovation and a desire to learn.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth market research to identify emerging trends, new technologies, and potential investment targets across various industries.
- Source and screen new companies through various channels including startup databases, incubators, accelerators, university programs, and industry events.
- Maintain and update our CRM system with detailed information on potential deals, contact interactions, and research findings.
- Assist in preparing initial company profiles, executive summaries, and investment memos for review by the investment team.
- Support the team in outreach efforts to prospective founders and co-investors.
- Participate in internal team meetings and contribute insights on deal flow and market trends.
- Help organize and represent Greenwood Capital Partners at virtual and in-person industry events and pitch sessions.
Required Skills
- Strong research and analytical capabilities with an ability to synthesize complex information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) or Google Workspace.
- Demonstrated interest in venture capital, entrepreneurship, technology, or finance.
- Proactive, self-starter with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Entrepreneurship, or a related field.
- Familiarity with CRM software (e.g., Affinity, Salesforce) is a plus.
- Basic understanding of startup business models and venture capital funding cycles.
- Prior participation in entrepreneurship clubs, investment groups, or startup competitions.
