Job Description

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Round Rock is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as a Hospital Porter (Full-Time). This is an entry-level position where no previous healthcare experience is required, as we provide comprehensive, full training to ensure your success. As a Hospital Porter, you will play a crucial role in the daily operations of our medical center, directly supporting patient care and ensuring the smooth movement of patients, equipment, and supplies. Your work will directly impact patient comfort and safety, making a real difference in the lives of those we serve.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transporting patients by wheelchair, stretcher, or bed to and from various hospital departments (e.g., admissions, discharge, imaging, operating rooms).
- Assisting patients with transfers, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and safety at all times.
- Moving medical equipment, supplies, laboratory specimens, and patient charts between departments as needed.
- Responding promptly to requests for porter services and communicating effectively with nursing staff, physicians, and other hospital personnel.
- Maintaining the cleanliness and operational readiness of transport equipment.
- Adhering to all hospital policies, safety protocols, and infection control procedures.
- Providing compassionate support and a positive attitude to patients and their families.
Required Skills
- No prior experience is required; full training will be provided.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong physical stamina and the ability to lift, push, and pull patients and equipment.

Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification (training can be provided upon hire).
- Previous experience in a customer service role.
