Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and organised FOI Case Assistant to join our Information Access team in Goulburn. In this vital support role, you will assist in the processing and management of Freedom of Information (FOI) requests and other information access applications, ensuring timely and compliant responses. You will play a key role in maintaining accurate records, preparing correspondence, and providing administrative support to Case Officers, contributing to the Department’s commitment to transparency and public service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Log and track incoming information access requests and inquiries accurately.
  • Prepare and dispatch acknowledgement letters and other routine correspondence to applicants.
  • Assist Case Officers with initial research, document collation, and data entry related to FOI cases.
  • Maintain organised digital and physical records for all assigned cases, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Support the coordination of internal consultations and information gathering processes.
  • Ensure compliance with administrative procedures and relevant information access legislation.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Information Access team as required.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated administrative and organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and data management systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent time management and ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • A commitment to public service and ethical conduct.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an administrative support role, particularly within a government or legal environment.
  • Familiarity with the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (NSW) or similar legislation.
  • A certificate or diploma in Business Administration, Legal Support, or a related field.
