Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Commercial Awning Installer (Mate) to join our busy construction support team. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals looking to start a career in the skilled trades, offering comprehensive on-the-job training. As an Installer Mate, you will work alongside experienced lead installers, assisting with the fabrication, assembly, and installation of various commercial awning systems. This role requires physical stamina, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to safety and quality work. Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead installers in the safe and efficient installation of commercial awnings and related structures.
- Prepare work sites by setting up tools, equipment, and materials.
- Perform basic measuring, cutting, drilling, and fastening tasks under supervision.
- Handle and transport materials, ensuring proper care and organization.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, both on-site and at the shop.
- Follow all safety protocols and company guidelines meticulously.
- Learn and apply new skills related to awning installation techniques and materials.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform physical tasks.
- Comfortable working at heights and on ladders/scaffolding.
- Basic understanding of hand and power tools (or willingness to learn rapidly).
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Reliable transportation to and from the shop/job sites.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in construction, general labour, or outdoor work is an asset but not required.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Basic First Aid and WHMIS certification (training can be provided).
