Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and organized Patient Services Assistant to join our Healthcare Logistics team in Wollongong. In this vital role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of patient-related materials, samples, and documentation within our facility. This position is perfect for an individual with exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a commitment to supporting the highest standards of patient care. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks that contribute directly to operational efficiency and the timely delivery of critical services, working collaboratively with medical, nursing, and administrative staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the collection, sorting, and distribution of patient samples, records, and internal mail.
  • Ensure accurate labeling and timely delivery of specimens to pathology or other departments.
  • Assist with inventory management of medical supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, including equipment and supply rooms.
  • Provide administrative support as needed, including data entry and filing of patient-related documents.
  • Adhere strictly to all infection control, health and safety, and privacy policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with all internal departments to facilitate smooth logistics operations.
  • Transport patients and patient equipment within the facility as required, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Assist in the preparation and setup of patient rooms or clinical areas as directed.

  • Basic computer literacy and ability to use relevant software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a healthcare or hospital environment.
  • Experience in a customer service or administrative support role.
  • Current First Aid certificate.
  • Valid NSW Driver's License.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
