Job Description

Are you a budding landscape design enthusiast eager to kickstart your career? Australian Native Landscapes (ANL) is offering an exciting Landscape Designer Intern position with a focus on residential projects. This is a hands-on opportunity to learn from experienced professionals, contribute to real-world designs, and gain invaluable industry exposure. We are looking for a motivated and creative individual who is passionate about transforming outdoor spaces and has a keen eye for detail. You will work closely with our design team, supporting various stages of residential landscape projects, from concept development to documentation. Full training and mentorship will be provided, making this an ideal role for someone with little to no prior professional experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior landscape designers with concept development and presentation materials for residential projects.
  • Support the creation of detailed landscape plans, including planting plans, hardscape layouts, and irrigation schematics.
  • Conduct site visits, take measurements, and assist with site analysis under supervision.
  • Research plant materials, hardscape products, and outdoor living trends suitable for Australian residential landscapes.
  • Prepare sketches, renderings, and other visual aids to communicate design ideas.
  • Help maintain project documentation and organize design files.
  • Collaborate with the design team and other departments to ensure project alignment and success.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant diploma or degree program (e.g., Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, Horticulture).
  • Basic proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Vectorworks, SketchUp) is preferred but not essential; willingness to learn is key.
  • Demonstrated interest and passion for landscape design and horticulture.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced professional environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A portfolio showcasing student projects, personal design work, or relevant creative endeavors.
  • Familiarity with local plant species and sustainable design principles.
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign) for presentations.
