Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Cardiac Catheterization Lab Nurse to join our highly skilled cardiovascular team. In this role, you will be instrumental in providing specialized nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures. You will work collaboratively with cardiologists, technologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes before, during, and after procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist cardiologists during cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures, including preparing patients, monitoring vital signs, and administering medications.
- Monitor patients throughout procedures, recognizing and responding to changes in patient condition and ensuring patient safety.
- Provide pre- and post-procedure patient education and support, including discharge instructions and follow-up care.
- Manage and maintain specialized equipment and supplies within the Cath Lab.
- Document all aspects of patient care accurately and comprehensively in electronic health records.
- Participate in daily huddles, team meetings, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to all infection control protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.
- Respond to emergencies and provide advanced cardiac life support as needed.
Required Skills
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or eligibility to obtain.
- Demonstrated strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous learning.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN).
- Previous experience (at least 2 years) in acute care, critical care, or emergency nursing.
- Familiarity with cardiac rhythm interpretation and hemodynamic monitoring.
- Experience in a cardiac catheterization lab or other interventional cardiology setting is an asset but not required; comprehensive training will be provided.
- Proficiency in additional languages relevant to Toronto's diverse population.
