Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Community Development Worker to join our team in Cardiff. This vital role involves working directly with local residents, community groups, and partners to identify needs, build relationships, and facilitate sustainable community-led initiatives. The successful candidate will be instrumental in empowering individuals and groups to take ownership of their community’s development and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with local residents, community groups, and stakeholders to understand needs and aspirations.
- Facilitate and support community-led projects and initiatives, from conception to implementation.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with partner organisations, local authorities, and volunteers.
- Organise and deliver community events, workshops, and meetings to foster participation and social cohesion.
- Provide guidance and support to community members in developing their own skills and leadership capacities.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of community development activities, reporting on progress and outcomes.
- Identify funding opportunities and assist community groups in preparing grant applications.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in community engagement or social work.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to build rapport and trust with diverse community members.
- Strong organisational and project management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Understanding of community development principles and practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Community Development, Social Work, or a related field.
- Experience working within a charitable or non-profit organisation.
- Knowledge of the local community landscape in Cardiff.
- Driving license and access to a vehicle (for community travel).
