Job Description
Children’s National Hospital is actively seeking highly skilled and compassionate Pediatric Intensive Care Nurses (PICU) to join our critical care team. Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU setting.
- Monitor vital signs, interpret data, and administer medications as prescribed.
- Manage ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring, and other advanced life support equipment.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate and support patient families, providing clear communication and emotional comfort.
- Respond effectively to emergency situations and initiate life-saving interventions.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and national nursing standards.
Required Skills
- Registered Nurse (RN) license, eligible for licensure in Washington D.C.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and assessment skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to patient safety and quality care.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Certified Pediatric Critical Care Nurse (CPN) certification.
- Experience with international healthcare systems.
