Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Contracts Manager to join our dynamic team in Barrie, Ontario. This pivotal role involves overseeing all contractual aspects of our complex construction and technology-integrated projects, ensuring compliance, mitigating risks, and optimizing project outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong legal background in construction and/or technology contracting, exceptional negotiation skills, and a proven ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously. This position offers visa sponsorship for qualified international candidates eager to contribute to significant projects in Canada.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and administer a wide range of contracts, including prime contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, and joint venture agreements, with a focus on construction and technology services.
  • Ensure all contractual documents comply with legal requirements, company policies, and project specifications.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to project teams on contractual matters, claims, disputes, and risk management strategies.
  • Monitor contract performance, identify potential issues, and implement proactive solutions to prevent claims and delays.
  • Manage contract changes, variations, and amendments, ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel, project managers, and financial teams to align contractual obligations with project goals.
  • Conduct contract close-out procedures, ensuring all obligations are met and documentation is complete.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices, legal developments, and technological advancements relevant to construction and technology contracts.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in contracts management, specifically within the construction or technology sectors.
  • Strong understanding of contract law, commercial terms, and conditions, and risk management principles.
  • Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating complex contracts.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in contract management software and standard office applications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Law, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal qualification.
  • Certification in Contract Management (e.g., CCCM, CPCM).
  • Experience with international contract law and cross-border project agreements.
  • Familiarity with FIDIC, CCDC, or other standard contract forms in construction.
  • Prior experience working with a major general contractor or technology firm involved in large-scale infrastructure projects.
